Patriarchy. Colonialism. Neoliberalism: Transitional Justice and the Elephants in the Room

Transitional Justice Institute

Transitional justice addresses how societies deal with a past of conflict or oppression - whether this be the Northern Irish Troubles or Colombia’s 50-year internal armed conflict. But does transitional justice overlook the elephants in the room?

Can it speak to major structural and historical wrongs like patriarchy, colonialism, neoliberalism?

Should transitional justice be revised or retired?

Transitional justice scholars share their concerns and thoughts, reflecting on examples from Northern Ireland and Colombia.
