24/25 Programme Overview

To provide practical assistance to those first-year full-time students who are commencing a 24/25 Undergraduate programme in Derry~Londonderry following the acceptance of a qualifying Change Course Offer and an unsuccessful application to UU Accommodation.

This programme is for qualifying Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland residents only.  The programme consists of up to 2 support payments of £500 made to qualifying students at the start of Semester 1 and Semester 2 for the 24/25 Academic Year only.

Qualifying Criteria

Qualifying Students 
  • Qualifying students are invited to apply for the support payment.
  • The student is a first-year full-time student who has applied to study a 24/25 undergraduate programme commencing September 2024.
  • The student is meeting Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland Residency requirements. This payment is not available to International Students or Students from GB or the Islands.
  • The student address provided at registration is greater than 20 miles from the Derry~Londonderry campus.
  • The student is in receipt of and has accepted a Change Course Offer (see definition) to study in Derry~Londonderry for academic year 24/25.
  • The student has applied for UU accommodation and has not been successful in securing UU accommodation.
  • The student has registered to study the accepted change course offer and is in receipt of their Ulster University student card.
  • The student is a live student, has completed all registration requirements and is a fully registered student during Week 3.
  • To receive the second support payment, the student is a live student in Semester 2 and is not in fees arrears.
  • The student has accepted the Terms and Conditions prior to receipt of the support payment in Week 3.
Qualifying Courses

A qualifying Change Course Offer must be:

Initiated by Ulster University Admissions to provide an alternative course option to applicants who did not meet the required grades for their Firm or Insurance Choice on the following programmes.

Application Process

  • Applicants will be invited to apply for the support payment via an email from Ulster University Accommodation.
  • Applicants will be asked to complete an application which includes acceptance of the Terms and Conditions.
  • Semester 1 support payments will be issued following successful registration
  • Qualifying applicants will be notified via email in  Week 3 to complete required next steps so that support payments can  be made directly to the applicant by November 3 2025.

Terms and Conditions

  • The address supplied at registration is greater than 20 miles from the Derry~Londonderry campus.
  • The student has accepted and registered for their Change Course Offer initiated by Admissions from a course listed on the Support Payment Web-page.
  • The student has applied for Ulster University Accommodation and was informed by Ulster University Accommodation that they have not secured a place in Ulster University Accommodation.
  • The support payment is issued once all registration requirements are completed, and the student is in possession of an Ulster University Student card.
  • Qualifying students must meet the required residency conditions.
  • To receive the second payment of £500, the student must be in good standing and not in arrears of fees .
