LGBT+ History Month is held every February and aims to raise awareness of LGBT+ people's history and culture, and to challenge prejudice and discrimination.

In support of its focus on promoting and enhancing equality and inclusion, the University’s LGBT+ Staff Network and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) team, are delighted to partner with the LGBT+ Staff Network from University College Dublin (UCD), to host an online event to mark LGBT+ History Month.

Dr John P Gilmore (he/they), Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems at University College Dublin, will lead a presentation on this year's theme, Medicine - #Under the Scope.

The Medicine - #Under the Scope online presentation will take place:

  • On Wednesday 21 February
  • From 12 noon - 1pm
  • Online via MS Teams

Dr Gilmore’s teaching, research and scholarship focuses on intersections of social justice and healthcare, inclusion health and sexual and gender minority health.

In 2022, John was awarded a prestigious Fulbright HRB Health Impact Scholar award and in 2023 travelled to the USA where he was based at the Sexual and Gender Minority Health Equity Lab at University of California San Francisco and the Center for Sexual and Gender Minority Health at Columbia University New York.
