Entry requirements for foundation courses

Qualifications

  • Indian Standard XII with overall average of 50%, to include a pass in 5 subjects (Maths required for STE pathway)

Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes

Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.

Normally Ulster University welcomes applications from students with:

Qualifications

  • In general for entry to our undergraduate degree courses we accept the following as a minimum:
  • All Indian Standard XII (Central Boards or a State Board) with an overall average of 60% to include 60% or above in 5 subjects. Where a course has subject-specific requirements 60% will be required in each of these subjects

OR

  • 3 year Diploma in an engineering or technology subject  from a State Board of Technical Education with overall 60%

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes

Typically we require applicants for taught programmes to hold the equivalent of a UK first degree (usually in a relevant subject area). Please refer to the specific entry requirements for your chosen course of study as outlined in the online prospectus. We consider students who have good grades in the following:

  • Bachelor Degree
    • 2:1 - 60%
    • 2:2 - 55%

English Language Entry Requirements

Normally the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5).

Some of our courses ask for a higher score.

If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.

We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please check the list of other accepted tests

  • Standard XII English language (Must be English Core) - Pass with a minimum of 70% in Central Boards of Secondary Education (CBSE) or Indian Certificate in Secondary Education (CBSE/ICSE or the State Boards of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.)

We offer a range of scholarships for international students applying to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, based at our Northern Ireland locations.

Assessment

All international applicants are automatically assessed for Scholarships. No separate application is required.

Scholarship eligibility is assessed at the point an offer is made. Where applicable, awards will be confirmed in updated offer letters.
