Overview
Further Education (FE) offers full-time and part-time courses for students aged 16 and over, providing flexible pathways into employment, apprenticeships, or higher education.
Students can choose from a wide range of vocational and academic programmes, including Diplomas, Apprenticeships, and other industry-recognised qualifications. Many FE colleges also provide Higher Education options, such as Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Foundation Degrees, and Honours Degrees, allowing students to continue their studies locally.

CAFRE
Northern Ireland’s specialist agri-food and land-based college, offering a range of vocational and higher education courses across areas including Agriculture, Equine, Food, Horticulture, Floristry, Veterinary Nursing and Land-based Engineering.
Study full-time or part-time courses, including Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees, with pathways designed to support progression into employment or further study.
Courses combine practical learning with industry experience, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for future careers. Support services are also available throughout the student journey, including guidance from Student Support Officers and wellbeing services.
For students who are care experienced, additional support may be available, including financial assistance, bursaries and guidance around accommodation, student finance and transitioning into college life.

CAFRE accommodation provides students with the opportunity to live and study within a supportive college environment while developing independence and meeting other students with shared interests.

Financial Support and Student Services
Tuition fees for many Further Education courses at CAFRE are funded by DAERA, and students may also be eligible for additional financial support depending on individual circumstances.
Students who have experience of foster care, residential care, adoption or kinship care may be eligible for additional bursary support. CAFRE also provides access to wellbeing support, careers guidance, learning support and accommodation information to help students throughout their studies.
