On 7 October 2021, Prof Siobhan Wills (Transitional Justice Institute) and Ulisses Terto Neto will address Human Rights Council delegates on “Violence, Militarised Policing and Mental Health in Brazil”.

This is an online side event to the Human Rights Council's current session, organised jointly by the Transitional Justice Institute and the Brazilian NGO Conectas.

The event draws on the research for the AHRC-funded film Right Now I Want to Scream and provides a platform for some of the research team, and Ana Paula Oliveira, a founding member of Mothers of Manguinhos and one of the project's participants, to address Human Rights Council delegates on the impact of police violence on favela communities in Rio de Janeiro.

In particular the impact on the right to the social determinants of mental health.

A trailer for the film Right Now I Want to Scream is available to view below.
