Take the next step in your career

You don't need to leave your current employer to join a Degree Apprenticeship programme.  In fact, with the support of your employer our Apprenticeships are a great way to make a change or take the next step in your career.  Here are a few examples where Apprenticeships might help you to achieve your professional goals:

  • Stepping into a Leadership/Management role
  • Specialising with a Postgraduate qualification
  • Transferring into a new part of your business (e.g. from Software Development to Accounting, or vice versa)
  • Getting promoted into a new role that requires additional skills or training (e.g. from an Office Assistant in a Law firm to Legal Apprentice where you'll train to be a solicitor)

If this sounds like you, follow the steps below to get started.

1. Speak with your employer and agree an Apprenticeship Pathway

Have a look at our available programmes and decide what pathway will provide you with the skills you need to be successful in your new role.  If you already have an undergraduate degree, you'll need to evidence that the new programme is totally different to what you've studied previously.  We'll take you through the necessary existing employee paperwork that you'll need to complete to participate.

You'll also need to ensure that you meet the minimum academic entry criteria for your chosen programme of study.  Find out more using the link below.

2. Contact the University to go over the fine print

While you are researching your options, your line manager and HR team may have questions for us.  The easiest way for us to address these questions and to go over important information about the programme is to arrange a short meeting with the University.

Get in touch with us by emailing apprenticeships@ulster.ac.uk

We want both you and your employer to feel comfortable and confident with the details involved in purusing apprenticeship study, so this step is essential before you make your application to the university.

3. Make an Application to study with us

Find your course in the University prosepectus (use the link provided in Step 1 to find the course quickly), and then click 'Apply Now' at the top of the page to make your application.

  • Review your course's prospectus entry, and follow the link on the prospectus entry to 'Apply.'
  • Complete the enquiry form. You will need to provide a personal email address i.e. an email address that is not shared with anyone else. When you submit the enquiry form an email will be sent to you which will include a link to the application form. If you do not receive the email check your junk folder.
  • Click the link in the email to access the application form.
  • Be sure to complete all sections of the application form, including providing your employer's contact details. Make sure you review and submit the application form. You should reach a confirmation page which will let you know when this is done. You will also receive an email confirming your application has been received.
