Secure Cycle Storage

There are two secure cycle storage areas on the Belfast campus:

Curtis Street

  • 36 cycle racks (Including secure lockers to store your cycling gear, activated by your student or staff ID Card)

Frederick Street Car Park

  • 193 cycle racks (secure lockers are to be installed in Autumn 2022)

To gain access

To gain access to the secure cycle stores, contact carparks@ulster.ac.uk from your student or staff University Outlook account. A member of our Estates Services team will grant access and on confirmation you will be able to enter each store using your ID Card.

Lockers and showers

Lockers and showers are located on:

The ground floor of BA

  • Open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday
  • Open from 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday

Level 2 of Block BC

Adjacent to the gym, accessible with Gym membership.

  • Open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday
  • Open from 8am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Cycle to Work Scheme

Ulster University operates a Cycle to Work scheme providing staff with the opportunity to obtain bicycle and safety equipment as part of a salary sacrifice programme.

Sustrans

Like the existing Sustrans Active Travel Hub available at CS Lewis Square in the East of the city, a new Active Travel Hub will be installed within Cathedral Gardens beside the Belfast campus.

Sustrans has information and support available online ahead of the Active Travel Hub becoming available for staff, students and visitors, including tips on Cycling for Beginners and guidance to help make sure your bike is safe to ride

Belfast Bikes

The Belfast Bikes scheme has a docking station at the Belfast campus which is one of 33 docking stations located across the City Centre. These public hire bikes provide a low cost, convenient way to travel to and from campus.

Sign up is free and a £5 charge will be applied to your account which you can use as credit

DfI Belfast Cycle Map

A useful cycle map to help you find your best cycling route through the city is available from the interactive DfI webpage which highlights all main cycle routes including traffic free cycle paths.

Active Travel Hub

An active travel hub will open in Buoy Park beside the University campus in September 2022.
