Celebrating 50 years of UUBS in 2025
In 1975, we opened our doors to our very first students. Initially established as the Faculty of Business Administration, our journey began with just 40 staff members, 300 undergraduate students and a single Business Studies degree.
Five decades later, we have grown exponentially in academic offerings, campus footprint and regional impact. Today, we are a vibrant community of 10,000 students worldwide and a network of 60,000 alumni in 120 countries, driving business innovation across Northern Ireland and beyond, and are proudly named ‘University of the Year 2024’ by Times Higher Education.
We honour and celebrate our 50 years in delivering transformational outcomes for business through a programme of events, including professorial lectures, conferences and panel discussions. We hope that you will be able to join us in marking this special milestone.
UUBS Fireside Chats: Celebrating 50 Years of Impact
A celebration of our 50th anniversary, the Fireside Chat Series brings together alumni and leading voices to explore the big questions shaping business and society.
What does it take to shape an economy’s future in an ever-changing world?
We recently welcomed Neil Gibson, Permanent Secretary, Department of Finance, for a fireside chat with Professor Gillian Armstrong, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Executive Dean, UUBS.
Neil shares his unique perspective and fascinating insights on NI’s economic transformation through five decades, as student, economist, visiting professor and senior government official.
Watch a reflective conversation, marking 50 years of UUBS impact, practical insights on economic transformation, and an inspiring vision for NI’s future success.
