The shorter course length of 3 years compared to 4 years in the ROI also caught my attention as I will be qualified and ready to work quicker than I would be in the ROI. The cost of living is much more manageable in Northern Ireland in my opinion, and it is much easier to secure accommodation here than it would be in Dublin or Galway for example.

What sold me on Ulster was the guaranteed accommodation, meaning I didn't have to scramble for a place to live after I received my results. I would highly encourage Leaving Cert students to explore their options in the North. It can be scary moving away from home but once you find your friends it's a once in a lifetime experience getting to explore a new city and call it home for a few years.

The course intrigued me, being able to do business along with marketing, accounting and enterprise! Not having the stress of the points system down home also made it such an easy choice! I visited an open day and everyone was so welcoming and that confirmed it for me!

I found moving up to Derry really exciting...being in a whole different city is really exciting. I chose Ulster because the course is half placement and half course work, which is way better because you get to do more practicals, and I think I learn better that way.

I decided very last minute and sent in a UCAS application the week before deadline. I didn’t even know Ulster University existed prior to a talk we got from a representative that came to my school. As soon as his presentation was over, I was sold. I wanted nothing to do with any colleges/universities in Dublin and just wanted to pack up and come to the north. I don’t regret my decision one bit, I am so glad I found Ulster University and all the people I’ve met up here, everyone is so kind and sweet up here I love it.
