The Department of Hospitality Tourism and Events Management is based at our Belfast and Coleraine campuses.   We offer a range of specialist programmes of study at both undergraduate and postgraduate (taught and research) levels, on a full-time and part-time basis. Most of our programmes are accredited by industry bodies such as the Institute of Hospitality.

Our department is second in the UK  for Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism (The Guardian University Guide 2024). Our courses are accredited by the Institute of Hospitality, this qualification is recognised worldwide for international employment. Our Culinary Arts Management program is also accredited by the Craft Guild of Chefs. Our students enjoy gaining experience in our award-winning labs often working closely with industry companies and celebrity chefs and they often compete in student competitions winning medals for their skills and management knowledge.

Programmes delivered on the Coleraine campus are within the specialisms of international travel and tourism and events management. We also deliver the BSc Hons Consumer Management and Food Innovation which focuses on the design, development, management and marketing of consumer products and services. And the Food Business and Retail Management, which focuses on the business aspects of food retail and management.

On the Belfast campus, specialist programmes focus on international hospitality management and culinary arts management.

Traveling between Belfast and Coleraine

Travelling from Belfast to Coleraine and back is very easy utilising the Trains or Buses.

You can utilise the translink website to plan your journey.

The journey between Belfast, Lanyon place train station and Coleraine train station takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes and trains are organised so that you can change platforms and catch another train within  2 to 3 minutes that takes you directly to a dedicated train station for our Coleraine Campus.

The trains fleet has been recently upgraded and most trains have usp chargers and are very clean.

Students choosing to study at Coleraine who may not wish to take up the cheaper prices at Coleraine and surrounding areas but prefer the hustle and bustle of Belfast could still live in Belfast and commute as translink has great deals for students.

(We also organise dedicated travel for all our new students at the beginning of the semester and details are sent directly to offer holders).
