Shaping the Future of Justice: Meeting with Justice Minister Naomi Long at Stormont

We were honoured to be invited by Justice Minister Naomi Long MLA to Stormont for a productive discussion on some of the Centre for Legal Technology’s current work. The conversation focused on key areas including Agentic AI in judicial decision-making, Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), and how we can transform the delivery of justice to ensure broader and more equitable access for all.

The meeting was attended by Centre Director John Keers BL, Dr John McCord (Research Lead at the CLT), departmental officials, and Minister Long herself. It provided a valuable opportunity for wide-ranging discussions—from the evolving role of mediation to the responsible use of AI in the justice system—highlighting the role Northern Ireland can play in leading ethical innovation in LegalTech.

We are sincerely grateful to Minister Long for her time and thoughtful engagement, and for recognising the importance of exploring how technology can support a modern, fair, and inclusive justice system.

At the Centre for Legal Technology, we are proud to be at the forefront of shaping the future of LegalTech in Northern Ireland—driving research-led, ethical, and impactful innovation across the legal and justice sectors.
