About
The Centre for Industrial Digitalisation and Robotics Automation (CIDRA) forms a key part of the Cognitive Analytics and Digital Robotics Innovation Centre (CADRIC), one of the Derry~Londonderry and Strabane City Deal innovation projects. Located within a new purpose-built facility in Derry~Londonderry, the centre will drive innovation and sustainable growth for the manufacturing sector.
CIDRA has a specific focus on manufacturing and the use of AI in smart robotic systems. It recognises that five core technologies – robotics, automation, AI, industrial internet of things (IIoT), and additive manufacturing – have now reached sufficient maturity which provide significant opportunities and challenges for the industry.
Through its strategic focus areas, synergistic approach, and alignment with industry needs, CIDRA will drive the collaborative multi-disciplinary innovation needed to translate the benefits of Ulster University’s leading-edge research in Cognitive Robotics and Industrial Digitalisation into economic, environmental, and social benefits for Northern Ireland.
It will provide an open door for the manufacturing industry wanting to prototype and test new software and hardware concepts offering a co-creation space with cutting edge infrastructure and research driven by industry demands.

Facilities
By providing a collaborative platform, advanced facilities, and industry-aligned research, CIDRA aims to empower Northern Ireland's manufacturing sector with innovative solutions, driving competitiveness, and fostering economic growth.

Partners
CIDRA is strategically positioned to be an established collaborator with industry partners in the North West. The centre is empowering Northern Ireland's manufacturing sector with innovative solutions, increasing competitiveness and driving economic growth. It is fostering strong partnerships with industry stakeholders, aligning its research and development efforts with the strategic priorities of Northern Ireland's manufacturing ecosystem.

Engage
CIDRA is recruiting industry partners from the manufacturing industry to collaborate with our state-of-the-art prototyping facilities. Offering an open door, we are seeking partners wanting to prototype and test new software and hardware concepts, explore the design space, gain feedback, and evaluate implementations.

CADRIC
CIDRA is an integral part of the broader Cognitive Analytics and Digital Robotics Innovation Centre (CADRIC) project being funded as part of the Derry~Londonderry and Strabane City Deal.
CADRIC is a £39m research-led, industry-facing project driving the multi-disciplinary innovation necessary to translate the benefits of the University’s leading-edge research in data driven disciplines. The project includes the establishment of a new purpose-built facility in Derry~Londonderry.
The new CADRIC facility will provide infrastructure, equipment, and dedicated staff for the Cognitive Analytics Research Laboratory (CARL) and the Centre for Industrial Digitalisation and Robotics Automation (CIDRA) Innovation Centres of Excellence.
