About the MEG Lab
The Northern Ireland Functional Brain Mapping (NIFBM) facility is a £5.3M joint investment by Ulster University and Invest Northern Ireland. Established in 2014 and operational from early 2015, it provides state‑of‑the‑art neuroimaging resources for researchers and clinicians both within and beyond the University.
The MEG Lab houses a 306‑channel Elekta Neuromag MEG TRIUX system, installed in a large magnetically shielded room for highly precise brain‑activity recording. The facility also includes a Panasonic PT‑DS12KE projection system for visual‑stimulation studies, along with dedicated hardware and software for auditory and electrical stimulation.
Designed to support multidisciplinary and clinically focused research, the MEG Lab enables high‑quality functional brain mapping across a wide range of ongoing projects.
