Towards Tomorrow

‘Towards Tomorrow’ is a public art project created to mark Ulster University’s 50th anniversary in Coleraine. Designed by and for the local community under the direction of local visual artist Sara Cunningham-Bell, the sculpture reflects Ulster University’s unique and continued contribution to the local area.

“‘Towards Tomorrow’ is a celebration of cross-community partnership in the Coleraine area. As an organisation committed to serving the community, The Honourable The Irish Society is delighted to have been instrumental in enabling this project.”
- Edward Montgomery, The Honourable The Irish Society.

Enabling

‘Towards Tomorrow’ stands as a lasting legacy of the University’s 50th anniversary and was firmly supported by funding from the University, the Garfield Weston Trust, The Honourable The Irish Society, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, and a number of prominent businesses within the area.

Creating

The ‘Towards Tomorrow’ sculpture depicts a student dressed in a graduation gown holding a quadrant which represents research, innovation and inventiveness. Gathered around the figure’s feet are objects reflecting academia, research, music and sporting achievement.
