    Course Duration and Delivery Format

    Course dates: Semester 2 - February 2025

    The course will be taught over five sessions, with a mix of in-person teaching in Derry~Londonderry and online.

    Topics covered will include:

    Contemporary issues

    • Introduction to Fintech and contemporary issues
    • Hands-on research and market analysis workshop

    Quantitative Analytics and Blockchain in Practice

    • Demonstration on e.g. API, AI tools, blockchain application and open source software
    • Practical workshop of exploring digital tools

    Online Learning

    • Guidance for remote learning
    • Final written course work introduction

    Drop in Session on the final, written course work

    • Q&A on AI and blockchain adaption insight course work.

    Teaching, Learning and Assessment

    This module adopts a blended learning format, incorporating block learning with in-person instruction, live remote sessions, and self-paced online modules. A range of mediums will be utilised to inform and embed learning; such as, facilitative learning, lectures, workshops, online learning resources and case studies. Knowledge and understanding of the subject is disseminated through methods which reflect the distinctive nature of a mini MBA module.

    The teaching approach emphasises applied learning, utilizing real-world fintech examples and encouraging participants to connect theoretical concepts with their professional experience. Practical activities, such as experimenting with digital tools and analysing case studies, help to develop relevant skills.

    100% Coursework

    25% - There will be self-paced, self-study online modules which learning progress is assessed. These will be also contributing to the final grade.

    75% - Students will be required to undertake an individual assignment pertaining to comparative analysis on AI vs. blockchain adoption by organisations.

    Course Entry requirements

    You should hold a Second-Class Honours Degree or better OR have significant managerial / business experience.

    Fee Funding Eligibility

    Places are limited and open to applicants who:

    1. are over 18 years of age;
    2. are eligible to work in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland (ROI);
    3. are ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK or ROI for at least three years; or
    4. are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK or ROI.
    5. meet the course specific entry requirements as detailed above.
    6. meet the Ulster University general entry requirements
    7. this programme is not available to applicants with the following residency:
      1. GB and Islands
      2. EU excluding ROI qualifying residents
      3. International students
