Outline of Activity

The Ulster University Student-Alumni eMentoring Programme aims to match current undergraduate students with an experienced professional, who can inspire and empower students to take control of their own careers, seek out opportunities for professional development and grow in self-confidence.

Learning Outcomes

• Recognise opportunities to develop employability skills within the context of the Mentoring programme.
• Formulate and articulate career goals and devise strategies to achieve your career goals.
• Take due account of feedback provided by your mentor.
• Take due account of your own strengths, weaknesses, preferences aspirations and goals
• Develop negotiating and liaising skills
• Develop self-esteem and self-confidence.
• Evidence communication skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication using a variety of media.
• Demonstrate an ability to be proactive, adaptable and committed to self-development.
• Exhibit behaviour which suggests a desire to "get things done" while being sufficiently sensitive to persuade and influence others.
• Reflect on a series of experiences using a log book

Assessment Details

You will be expected to attend any training workshops if offered and a minimum of 6 interactions with your mentor.

In addition, each mentor meeting will require a pre- meeting and a post meeting reflective log, and follow up research on particular topics and advice discussed. At the end of the programme you will write a review of your experience within the programme using a log book and upload this to the appointed Blackboard area.

Level of Commitment

This varies on the level of each mentoring relationship but there should be at least 6 mentor/mentee contacts over the year period and independent research.
