Hard times or new opportunities? (In)dependence of the community and voluntary sector

In 2013 Linda Milbourne posed the question whether the changes facing community and voluntary organisations should be seen as 'hard times or new opportunities'.

This event will address this question in the Northern Irish context, with a focus on the significant changes currently under way for the voluntary and community groups. The event will challenge assumptions about what the sector is, what its relationship to government might be and ask whether the sector can realise independence of purpose, voice and action in an era of austerity.

Speakers include: Dr Jenny Muir, Dr Duncan Morrow and Dr Markus Ketola.
