Both as speakers of a language and as language theorists we rely upon our semantic intuitions to tell us whether two sentences can both be true or whether one sentence is more likely to be true than another. But what if our semantic intuitions are mistaken? I provide evidence that this is exactly our situation when it comes to conditionals: our intuitions about IF are systematically skewed by a parsing error in early semantic processing
