This year Ulster University is celebrating 150 years of teaching, learning and research at the Magee campus.

To mark this major milestone, the University is hosting a number of celebratory events open to local schools, alumni and the general public.

You will have the opportunity to explore the following:

FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER

Drama and Music

Performing the city; performing Magee

Staged readings of play texts associated with the Magee campus.  These will be delivered by Drama students and staff in the School of Creative Arts and Technologies, each framed by a talk by one of our leading researchers:

  • Brian Friel's theatre company, Field Day, who had their offices in Foyle Arts
  • Get a chance to see a contemporary piece from the Austin's Project, part of successful City of Culture 2013
  • Music performances by staff and students - Foyle arts building

The readings and events will:

  • Celebrate the dramatic and theatrical legacy of the city and Magee;
  • Demonstrate the research-led approach to teaching on the BA (Hons) Drama programme;
  • Mark the contribution of the late Brian Friel to theatre world-wide and his close association with the city and Magee, in particular through the Field Day project.

The morning will be of particular interest to students at AS/A Level or undertaking BTech or HND studies with a view to progressing to higher education by
