Through video, the role of memory as a form of resistance in conflict will be explored, followed by an open floor discussion.

This event will be hosted by Ulster University PhD researchers at Transitional Justice Institute Cira Palli-Aspero and Nisan Alici, who is currently working at the Demos Research Centre for Peace, Democracy and Alternative Politics in Turkey.

Come along and help broaden the conversation about how individuals, groups, communities, civil and state organisations and societies understand and actively engage with resistance; through remembering and/or forgetting.

Memory as a Form of Resistance was initially explored in an academic workshop in which we had the chance to discuss different dimension of memory work in conflicts.

This time the event will focus on How is memory constructed? Based on the findings of the academic the workshop, we take a closer look at the particular case of Colombia, and two different ways to approach memory and narratives of conflict. Come join us in an engaging evening to discover how memory operates in practice!!

Everyone is welcome to attend.
