The Wine & Spirit Education Trust Course - Level 1

This one-day qualification was initially created for the front-of-house staff within the on-trade sector. It has grown into a course with global appeal, providing basic product knowledge to first time employees in the wine industry and the interested consumer alike.

Date: 26 October 2018

Cost: £110  (10% discount for alumni and students)

Assessment: Multiple-choice paper of 30 questions.

Location:  The Academy, Belfast campus

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust Course - Level 2

The two-day course is aimed at those employed in the drinks and hospitality industries as well as wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits.  This qualification teaches about the key grape varieties grown around the world, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. It also incorporates elements of food and wine tasting.  Successful students will receive a certificate and WSET Level 2 Award in wine lapel badge.

Date: 14 November 2018 (Day 1)

21 November 2018 (Day 2)

28 November 2018 (Exam)

Cost: £220 (10% discount for alumni and students)

Assessment: Multiple-choice paper of 50 questions.

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust Course - Level 3

An advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine and spirits industry and wine enthusiasts.   This qualification provides detailed understanding of the factors that affect style, quality, and price for individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines and spirits.  Upon completion, you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to make authoritative recommendations.

Date: 11 weekly sessions commencing on Tuesday 2  October 2018 running from 1.15pm – 4.15pm. Please note this course will only run if we have the required student numbers registered.

Cost: £440 (10% discount for alumni and students)

Assessment:  Examination involving a tasting paper, multiple choice paper and short answer paper
