Health and Social Care
Attending Ulster for my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees has shaped my career as an optometrist. The world-class teaching and research facilities, coupled with the supportive learning environment created by staff made Ulster the ideal place to study.
I am currently in the final year of my Health and Social Care Policy degree. When I first started the course I was not sure what to expect but had hoped that I would find the course and content interesting and that it would equip me with the skills and knowledge to pursue a professional career in social care. What I have experienced over the last few years has more than exceeded my initial expectations. The content of the course covers so much more than the title suggests, incorporating learning in areas such as social policy, sociology and politics, as well as health and social care policy. As well as the interesting and relevant course content, the teaching staff have made this a really enjoyable experience. The support from the teaching staff has been amazing, with everyone being approachable and happy to help with any queries. Additionally, as part of the degree, I was able to complete a year long placement which is something I never thought I would be able to do as part of this course. This experience has enabled me to gain solid professional experience, relating to social policy, that I would otherwise not have been able to gain. Overall, I could not have chosen a better degree to suit my personal and professional interests.
