DSA1 slimline form: If you have completed or are completing your application for Student Finance and you also want to apply for Disabled Students' Allowances, you should complete the slimline version of the DSA1 form.

Full DSA1 form: If you are applying for Disabled Students' Allowances only, or if you are a part-time student, a postgraduate student or if you are studying your course by distance learning you must complete the full version of the DSA1 form.

Needs Assessment Centre KPIs

The Needs Assessment Centre will allocate a student to a needs assessor when either:

  • A DSA eligibility letter and medical evidence is received or
  • A request from an accessability adviser has been received for a student eligible for BSO or HEA funding who has presented sufficient medical evidence.

The needs assessor will contact the student to offer an appointment for the needs assessment.

Assessment report sent to Needs Assessment Centre.

Report is quality assured and any amendments requested in writing to the needs assessor.

Needs assessor to provide amendments to report and quotes, if requested.

Assessment report sent to the student with accompanying written cover note detailing that the recommendations cannot be guaranteed and may not be approved by their funder. Students advised to contact Needs Assessment Centre within 2 working days if they have a query about any element of the report. Report sent to funding body by Needs Assessment Centre.

2 working days or as soon as amendments are verified within this timeframe.
