Health and Safety

Staff Development works in partnership with Health and Safety Services and Student Support to provide a comprehensive health and safety training programme, as detailed in the matrices below.

It is recommended that all health and safety training is repeated every three years.

Health and Safety Services will determine annually the Fire Marshall and First Aid Training requirements for each area within the University.

Each Head of School/Department is required to complete a Health and Safety Checklist in September each year and this will inform the respective Faculty or Campus Health and Safety Committee of the specific Health and Safety training requirements for each area.

Line Managers of new staff will, in addition, complete a Local Induction Checklist that will identify any specific Health and Safety training requirements for the new staff member.

Training for Fire Marshal and First Aid will be based on assessment of the need within an area.
