Using steel wire and the written word Elaine Taylor and Gillian McShane explore the ancient themes of Celtic Mythology. By focusing on the core themes of strong female warriors and the destruction of Mother Nature, they have created Eostre.
This collaboration continues to inspire new work, with creative narrative interwoven with wire sculpture, the struggle of Eostre comes alive before our eyes.
Elaine uses tension and binding techniques to create forms which capture a moment in time and embody movement and intrigue of the underlying narrative.
Gillian transports the reader into the Faerie Realm and through a descriptive and enthralling narrative invites them to stand alongside Eostre in her battle to free the Faerie Folk.
She closes her eyes and lets the wind cool her face, her lips raise into a gentle smile “I know you can hear me Manannan, our people will be free again.” She bows her head to the ocean, turns and walks slowly back towards the forest.
