On Saturday, May 20th, the launch will take place of the book Northern/Irish Feminists: Judges' Troubles and the Gendered Politics of Identity (Hart Publishing, 2017).
The book launch is the culmination of 'Northern/Irish Feminist Judgments Project', which has involved a collection of legal academics and practitioners from across Ireland rewriting key judgments in Northern Irish and Irish law from a feminist perspective. The project is co-ordinated by Mairead Enright, University of Birmingham, Dr Julie McCandless, LSE and Dr Aoife O'Donoghue, Durham University.
The book will be launched by the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland Mr Justice Declan Morgan QC. The event will involve a short opening contribution from the project directors to discuss the Northern/Irish Feminist Judgment Project, its motivations and objectives.
The judges’ roundtable will be the focus of the event, in which a number of senior judges from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will reflect on the significance of the Feminist Judgment Project, as well as their own process of judgment-writing. The roundtable will be chaired by Professor Monica McWilliams.
The book launch and judges’ roundtable will take place on Saturday, May 20 at 11am at the Inn of Court within the Bar Library. Registration for the event is now closed.
