Built environment research centres

There are five research centres within BERI covering research in sustainable technologies, fire safety engineering and technology, hydrogen safety engineering, property and planning & studies allied to built environment research.

The Built Environment Research Institute (BERI) conducts internationally excellent and world-leading research across five research centres reflecting diversity across the discipline area.

Our research centres

Centre for Sustainable Technologies

CST’s research addresses core issues in relation to renewable energy and energy efficiency in buildings.

FireSERT’s research is concerned with how fires develop, how structures respond to fires and how people react.

Hydrogen Safety Engineering and Research

HySAFER carries out fundamental and industry driven research in the area of safety science and engineering, primarily hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

Research on Property and Planning

RPP is concerned with research into real estate markets, housing, planning, regeneration and sustainability in urban environments.

Studies Allied to Built Environment Research

SABER seeks to stimulate the research environment across the construction and civil engineering disciplines.
