The library contains approximately three thousand handwritten poems by John Hewitt.
Here are a couple of examples of his early work from the 1920s.
Handwritten Notes
John Hewitt’s work as a literary critic is also well represented with numerous handwritten notes and newspaper clippings.
A North Light
The Hewitt collection of books and journals amounts to approximately 5000 titles.
The collection also contains his autobiography ‘A North Light’. This is an extract from the first chapter.
