The Distinguished Research Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of Ulster staff members in the area of research, across three categories – Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship Award, Distinguished Research Fellowship Award and Early Career Research Excellence.

Dr Raymond Bond
Reader in Data Analytics, School of Computing

Dr Bond has made significant contributions to digital health research including the application of machine learning algorithms to healthcare datasets and the design of digital interventions.

Dr Bond has been responsive to the COVID-19 pandemic and is a member of a COVID modelling group that informed key modelling decision making in the Department of Health.

Early Career Research Excellence Champion Award

Dr Joe Rafferty
Lecturer, School of Computing

Dr Rafferty was appointed Lecturer in the School of Computing in 2018. His research has focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), scalable computing infrastructure/architecture, ambient assisted living, data analytics, machine learning, system security and resilient self-organising systems.
