Annual Studentship Competition

The University's main competition for funding for full-time PhD and MRes for entry in the 2017/18 academic year will open on 16 December 2016 and close on 24 February 2017.   We have two types of awards; for those with UK/EU residency we have awards through Department for the Economy (DfE) and for those of all nationalities we have Vice Chancellor's Research Studentship (VCRS) awards. The awards will comprise fees together with an annual stipend of £14,500 (tbc) and will be awarded for a period of up to three years' subject to satisfactory progress.  These awards can be applied to any of the advertised projects which are available via the faculty links below.

Applicants should hold or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study; applicants deemed by Senate to hold an equivalent qualification will also be considered.

All applicants should also hold relevant English language qualifications.  All applications for studentships will be considered on a competitive basis and with regard to the candidate's qualifications, skills, experience and interests.

Applicants should be aware that the competition for funded entry is very high and are advised to discuss their application prior to submission with the staff noted within the project description.

Applicants should note that disclosure of disability or personal circumstances should be made as part of the application process or as soon as possible thereafter in order to facilitate any necessary accommodation.
