COVID-19 and young people
Aged 16-25? – We want to hear your views on ‘social distancing’
What is the study about?
You are invited to take part in a survey exploring distancing behaviours while out and about and while socialising with family and friends. We hope to understand why and when this is most tricky for young people. This will help us to get a better sense of how young people can be better supported when getting out of the house and while socialising during this phase of lockdown easing.
What will I have to do?
This survey will ask you questions about your current activities and experiences of distancing during this phase of lockdown, and will later ask you some questions about you as a person. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 minutes. Upon completion of the survey there will be a short debrief. Survey completers will be entered into a raffle with a chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher.
We plan to also launch the same survey in around 3 months. You do not have to complete the survey again, however if you are happy to complete it again to help us see if anything has changed for you, we would ask if you could provide an email address at the end of the survey for this purpose. The email address will be used only for us to resend the survey and will not be paired with any data you provide.
Am I eligible to take part?
If you are aged 16-25 years and living in Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland you are eligible to take part.
Do I have to take part?
Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you have the right to stop at any point during the survey by exiting/closing the browser. However, if you have consented to completing the survey by clicking ‘I consent’, any partially completed data provided may be used in the analysis. You have the right to skip any questions you do not feel comfortable answering. You may request your data to be removed from the analysis up to 2 weeks following completion of the survey, however this is only possible if you have provided an email address (for the follow-up survey and/or raffle) as responses will be otherwise anonymous. To enquire about data removal contact Emma Berry.
Is my data anonymous?
If you wish to be entered into the raffle for the Amazon voucher you will be asked to leave an email address but this will only be retained for the purposes of the raffle or to request to withdraw your data (up to 2 weeks after completion) and will be deleted by December 2020. If you wish to be sent the follow-up survey in 3 months you will be asked to leave an email address but this will only be retained for the purposes of resending the survey or to request to withdraw your data (up to 2 weeks after completion) and will be deleted by August 2021. Also, the email provided will be removed from the dataset once downloaded from Qualtrics and stored separately from the anonymised dataset to support your privacy. No other personally identifiable details will be requested from you and any data made public will be strictly anonymous.
We plan to publish anonymised findings in report form and in an academic journal and make the anonymised raw data available on the QUB Pure repository approximately two years after the last participant has consented. Anonymised data will be securely retained for 10 years.
