The Macedonian Agency for Community Rights Realisation has been on a visit to Northern Ireland, hosted by the Equality Commission NI (ECNI). The purpose of ACRR's Study Visit is  to study both the progress - and the learning outcomes – in relation to rights realisation as they apply in the Northern Ireland context.

This is the ACRR's first visit to Northern Ireland. It is taking place under the auspices of the European Commission's (EC) TAIEX programme. The EC, and EU Delegation in Skopje, are supporting the ACRR in developing proposals for new/amended legislation on the protection of minorities less than 20% of the population.

The delegation consisted of  Ilhan Rahman (Director), Dzelal Hodzic (Deputy Director), Lejla Kardovic (Advisor) and  Marija Belicheva (Translator) with Jarlath Kearney (ECNI) coordinating. During their visit they met with Rory O’Connell (TJI & Law), Máire Braniff (INCORE & ASPS), and heard about research and engagement from Michelle Rouse (PhD), Leo Green (PhD), and Eilish Rooney (TJI & ASPS) with a particular focus on the relationship between law and policy; role of evidence based policy; links between universities, civil society and public sector; and cross-cutting themes of gender and education.
