Rimona holds an MSc in Conflict Resolution specializing in reconciliation and peacebuilding, and an MA in Intercultural Communication centered on the intercultural implications of the human rights discourse and praxis. Her undergraduate degrees are in Politics and in Communication Science, with a focus on human security and corporate social responsibility respectively. She has completed her studies in Romania, Germany and the Netherlands, with different academic and applied programmes attended in other countries. She has been engaged for over seven years in civil society programmes in Europe and beyond, in areas like human rights education, youth work, civil rights, international justice advocacy, business accountability, culture and arts.

In her doctoral project, Rimona Afana looks at the nexus between justice and reconciliation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and its operationalization in grassroots peacebuilding. Her main research interests are the interface between reconciliation and justice at micro and macro level, and the relation between business accountability and human rights.
