OUTing the Past 2019: Festival Conference of LGBT History

OUTing the Past is a two day conference and gathering which this year is hosted by Ulster University in partnership with Cara-Friend.  It  marks the end of the 2019 National Festival of LGBT History and furthers the festival’s goals through its programming as well as its commitment to fostering sustained engagements among academics, public scholars, students, activists, librarians, archivists, and heritage professionals.

The 2019 programme is dedicated to ‘LGBT+ Solidarity: Past and Present’. It features speakers from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, US, Sweden, Italy, Israel, and Norway. Workshops include: Making and Presenting LGBT+ Films, The Future of LGBT+ History in the UK, and discussion with the CEO and Research Director of the Queer Britain museum project.

This LGBT History conference was established in 2012 to create a platform for research. Our aim is to highlight current work on LGBTQI identities and showcase this research.
