Our purpose-built state of the art fire testing facilities and equipment means that we can test a wide range of building, construction and transport materials and products.

Our 20 MW Calorimeter hood, one of the largest in Europe has a 9m x 9m x 9m capacity. This facility can be used for the full scale test validation related to reaction and resistance to fire testing of materials or structures.

Fire Resistance applies to individual elements of building construction (non load bearing; load bearing) measures integrity, insulation and load bearing capacity using BS476, EN 1364, EN 1365. Fire resistance is defined in BS 476: Part 20: 1987 as the ability of an element of building construction to withstand exposure to a standard temperature, time and pressure regime without loss of its fire separating function or load bearing function or both for a given time. Tests can be carried out to British and European test standards.

Our installation includes:

  • 20 MW Calorimeter hood 9m x 9m x9 m
  • Water mist suppression (max pressure 100 bars)
  • Sprinkler system
  • Transportation vehicles fire performance
