Recent research has shown that standard fire resistance requirements are typically over-specifying the fire protection needed.

It is clear that there are large reserves of fire resistance in modern buildings and that standard fire resistance tests on single unrestrained members do not provide a satisfactory indicator of the performance of such structures.

At FireSERT, large-scale fire tests and observations of actual building fires have shown that the fire performance of real buildings is much better than expected.

Benefits

Using the latest research knowledge combined with the most cutting edge technology we can deliver:

  • Optimising the passive fire protection with a considerable cost-saving
  • Analyse buildings for extreme events
  • Structural optimisation in fire conditions
  • Introduce innovative fire safety solutions using performance-based approach

Finite Element Analysis

Finite Element Analysis is an advanced computational technique that assesses the non-linear behaviour of structures in fire. The analysis allows the structure to be tailored to achieve the required fire resistance periods with the minimum fire protection.

Computational Fluid Dynamic Modelling

Today, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes are widely used by the fire protection engineers for performance based design as well as disaster analysis. Those codes are composed of several sub-models, each one having a specific function.
