Initial views invited on REF timetable

Following the decision by the four UK higher education funding bodies to put the REF on hold due to the effects of Covid-19, initial views are invited from the HE sector regarding the timing of the new submission deadline and the effects on impact case studies.

   22 April 2020

The four UK higher education funding bodies are at the preliminary stages of adapting the deadlines for the submission of REF2021. This follows the decision to put the REF on hold last month, while institutions respond to the effects of Covid-19.

To inform the REF development work, initial views are invited from the HE sector on two central issues for the revised exercise:

  1. the timing of the new submission deadline; and
  2. the broad approach to taking account of the effects on impact case studies.

The REF team streamed a live webinar on 21 April 2020, explaining the issues and questions on which views will be sought. A recording of the webinar will be available to view shortly on the REF website.

In order to inform the University’s response we have created an internal online survey to gather your views on these two issues.

The deadline for internal responses is 5 pm on Wednesday 29 April 2020.
