Saudi Arabia

Information for applicants from Saudi Arabia and Ulster University's agent network.

Undergraduate courses

Each course will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.

In general for entry onto an undergraduate degree programme, we accept the following Saudi qualifications:

  • Thanawiyah plus successful completion of a recognised foundation course.
  • one or more years of study at a Saudi university may (in exceptional cases) be considered for entry into Year one of an undergraduate degree without requiring a foundation year.

Postgraduate courses

Unlike Saudi Masters programmes, a British masters degree has one-year duration.

Typically we require applicants for taught masters programmes (MA, MSc, MRes, MBA, MPA, LLM) to hold a bachelors degree (usually in a relevant subject) with a good grade.

A four-year bachelors degree with a GPA of 3.75-4.39 from a well ranked institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a GPA of 3.10-3.74 is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.

English Language Entry Requirements

To study at Ulster University, you need good English and we will need to see recent evidence of this (certified within the last two years).

Most of our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement.

Some courses have higher language prerequisites – please check entry requirements on the relevant course webpage.

You may be asked for a Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate: IELTS or Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE), or you may hold other English language qualifications that we can recognise. Please see Here for the complete list of English language tests/qualifications which Ulster University may recognise.

Our Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) offers a range of English language courses, which are designed to prepare international students with the necessary language skills for academic study at Ulster University.
