Information for applicants from Singapore.

Undergraduate courses

Each course will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.

Cambridge GCE A Levels, the Singapore Integrated Programme and the International Baccalaureate (IB) at good grades are considered for entrance to undergraduate programmes. You should refer to the individual courses in the on-line undergraduate prospectus for specific information.

The Singapore-Cambridge GCE O level is acceptable at grades A1 - C6 instead of GCSE grades A, B and C on a subject-for-subject.

If you have completed a diploma from one of the polytechnics in Singapore, you may be considered for admission directly to the second year of some undergraduate programmes.

For entry to Postgraduate courses

Typically we require applicants for taught Masters programmes (MA, MSc, MRes, MBA, MPA, LLM) to hold a Bachelors degree (usually in a relevant subject) with a grade equivalent to a UK upper second class honours.

If you have a degree at Bachelor (Hons) or Masters level with good grades from Singaporean universities you will be considered for entry to postgraduate degrees.

A score of 60% or B or 3.1 from a well ranked institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1, while a score of 50% or C or 2.7 is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.

English Language Entry Requirements

To study at Ulster University, you need good English, and we will need to see recent evidence of this (certified within the last 2 years).

Most of our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement.

Some courses have higher language prerequisites – please check entry requirements on the relevant course webpage.

You may be asked for a Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate: IELTS or Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE), or you may hold other English language qualifications that we can recognise.

Our Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) offers a range of English language courses, which are designed to prepare international students with the necessary language skills for academic study at Ulster University.
