Undergraduate courses

Each course will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the Undergraduate on-line prospectus. 

We typically require you to have passed the Dëftesë Pjekurie - Certificate of Maturity/Secondary School Leaving Certificate and one of the following:

  • A recognised UK Foundation/Access course or
  • The first year of the Diplomë e Nivelit të Pare (First Level (University) Diploma) with an overall average of 7 or above.

For advanced entry to an Undergraduate Degree Programme:

If you have completed 2-3 years of your Diplomë e Nivelit të Pare (First Level (University) Diploma) in a relevant subject with an overall average of 7 or above you may be considered (at the School's discretion) for advanced entry.

If you have completed your Diplomë Universitare (University Diploma) in a relevant subject with an overall average of 7 or above you may be considered for advanced entry (final year).

If you have completed your Diplomë Jo-Universitare (Non-University Diploma) in a relevant subject with an overall average of 7 or above you may be considered for advanced entry (second year).

Postgraduate courses

Our on-line postgraduate prospectus indicates if there are any additional programme requirements. 

Typically we require applicants for taught Masters programmes (MA, MSc, MRes, MBA, MPA, LLM) to hold a Bachelors degree (usually in a relevant subject) with a grade equivalent to a UK upper second class honours.

We normally require you to hold a Diplomë e Nivelit të Pare (First Level (University) Diploma) with an overall average of 7 or above. Students with a 5 or above may be considered for one of our Graduate Certificate courses.

If you hold a Diplomë universitare Degree (pre-Bologna) with an outstanding grades may also be considered. Students with a 5 or above may be considered for one of Graduate Certificate courses.

English Language Entry Requirements

To study at Ulster University, you need good English, and we will need to see recent evidence of this (certified within the last 2 years).

Most of our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement.

Some courses have higher language prerequisites – please check entry requirements on the relevant course webpage.

You may be asked for a Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate: IELTS or Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE), or you may hold other English language qualifications that we can recognise.

Our Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) offers a range of English language courses, which are designed to prepare international students with the necessary language skills for academic study at Ulster University.
