Why go virtual?

First of all, what is a virtual mobility? We can describe it as an online international experience without the need to travel.

Why should you participate in virtual mobility?

At Ulster University, we are excited to offer you with new virtual opportunities for the 2021/22 academic year!

  • Who is eligible to apply?

    Each virtual programme has different criteria so have a look down!

  • What is the application process?

    You will need to submit an application form via Gecko prior to the application deadline.  You will then be informed of your application status within a few days post-deadline. All you'll need to do then is start the programme on its start date!

  • What IT equipment will I need?

    You will need a computer (desktop or laptop) or a tablet and ensure that you have a working browser (Google Chrome, Firefox etc.).

    You will need to have a Zoom account for live sessions.

Think Pacific Remote Internship

Take part in a Think Pacific Remote Internship and you can make a difference while gaining unique skills and experiences. You will be connected with real life projects supporting communities in the Fiji Islands and be provided with insightful mentoring, coaching and support to help you contribute to global issues.

Working in Partnership with the Fijian Government & Major Fijian NGO's, you will have the opportunity to tackle international development issues and achieve real outcomes for Think Pacific partners in Fiji, while engaging with fellow staff and students internationally and boosting your employability.

Through this programme you will :

  • Take part in unique work experience for Fijian Ministries, NGO’s, social enterprises or local charities.
  • Contribute to the Fiji National Development Plan and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Choose from 9 career fields & support local impact in Fiji.
  • Complete the Sustainable Dev & Fijian Culture learning modules.
  • Connect with socially conscious students & professionals.
  • Gain unique global references for CV, LinkedIn & job applications.
  • Learn from NGO & business leaders, Government advisors & Fijian academics.
  • Have access to potential employment opportunities after internships.
  • Take part in an 8-week flexible internship
  • 50% of your fee supports the Think Pacific foundation in Fiji.

The Important Bits

Eligibility: All 1st and 2nd year full-time undergraduate students will be eligible to apply.

Credit: You will receive a certificate of acknowledgement from Think Pacific and their partner organisation in Fiji, which you can then to your credentials and share on LinkedIn

Duration: 8-Weeks - Recommended 10-12 hours per week with a minimum of one live session per day (sessions are between 60-90 mins)

Programme Dates: 21 March up to 13 June

Programme structure: There will be a mix of recorded content within an online portal and live sessions (including workshops, virtual office & campfire sessions, mentoring, and panel discussions). Find out more about Think Pacific’s virtual internships.

Places: There will be 29 places available.

Programme Fee: The programme will be fully funded by the Global Engagement Office.

Webinars: Learn more about this programme by joining a webinar every Monday at 5pm.

Application deadline: Friday 11 March at 12pm
