About

The module aims to support individuals to become more reflexive, self-aware, empathetic, compassionate, and politically insightful leaders. A series of innovative pedagogies are used to invite students to collectively examine the details of their interactions at work, enabling them to gain insights into how norms, routines, conflicts, and cultures emerge in organisations and apply these insights to their working lives.

Participation on the module will develop students’ ability to manage and lead reflexively, with an improved understanding of their own and others’ emotions and the causes of patterns of behaviour in the workplace.

This will result in improvements in their ability to lead collectively and to work across organisational hierarchies and interorganisational systems. Students will learn to critically interrogate different perspectives on leadership, communication, and culture and their consequences for management practice.

They will learn to recognise the complex and interdependent nature of contemporary leadership and the impact of power and patterns of inclusion and exclusion.
