Ulster University, Department of English, would like to invite English Literature, Year 13 and 14, pupils to participate in our Poetry Competition.

The Brief

CLIMATE Climate affects us all.

We hear about it all the time; see varying weather conditions and watch how it con affect the country, often impacting day-to-day life. The competition asks entrants to take inspiration from the theme 'climate'.

This competition is designed to unleash your creativity and encourage a creative response to local or worldwide climate. Show us what climate means to you. Explore the climate and incorporate its elements into your poem. We wont you to be imaginative and enjoy the project.

Your task will be to produce one poem on the theme of climate, no longer than 30 lines in length.

The competition is open to English Literature, Year 13 and 14, pupils in schools across Northern Ireland and will be judged by a panel from the Ulster University English literature team and Seamus Heaney HomePlace.

The closing date is 31st December 2020. Poems will be judged on the adjacent rules and we recommend all entrants read the rules carefully before entering. Entries should be emailed to poetry@ulster.ac.uk

All entries will be exhibited at Ulster University Coleraine campus and a selection of entries will be published online and in hard copy. We really look forward to reading what the Climate means to you.
