Diane Lyness will hold a 12 week silver jewellery class on Thursday evenings from 6.30-9.30pm, the classes will commence on 28th January 2016, with no classes on 17th March and 31st March.

This course is suitable for beginners with no previous jewellery experience and a great taster for those taking their first steps into a creative field. Under the guidance of jeweller Diane Lyness you will learn a variety of jewellery techniques including soldering, shaping, cutting, texturing metal and polishing, and will be introduced to the jewellery workshop and using equipment such as a piercing saw, soldering torch, mandrills, doming punches, files, hammers and the rolling mill. During the 12 weeks students will work through the design and creation of a piece or pieces of silver jewellery.

Materials and Tools

Basic materials will be given as part of the class. Individuals may wish to purchase precious metal, stones, etc. as you go along. The price of these is usually inexpensive, but will be discussed individually with your tutor.

If you have your own hand tools please bring them with you, don’t worry if you don’t we have some for you to borrow.
