During the research journey there are several milestones that postgraduate researchers are expected to achieve. The first of these is the initial assessment which takes place in month four of the PhD for full time students, month 8 for part-time students. At this initial assessment seminar, PhD researchers will present the background, overall aims of their projects, methods to be used, and plans for the remainder of their first year of study. Following a fifteen-minute presentation, there will be a five-minute discussion with the assessment panel and members of the audience. All staff, PhD researchers and students are welcome to attend to hear about the breadth of impactful research that is happening across the School of Medicine.
