World Town Planning Day (WTPD) is an international day celebrating the accomplishments of planners and planning’s contribution to building sustainable communities.

Join Ulster University’s planning staff and students (UPLAN) for a special educational event to celebrate this year’s World Town Planning Day (WTPD), which recognises the accomplishments of planners and planning’s contribution to creating sustainable communities.

Through a series of interactive workshops, bringing together school pupils, university students and local practitioners, we will explore planning’s role in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discuss how we translate these global goals into local action to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Local practitioners will also be attending to share their perspectives on how planning can achieve the SDGs after the workshops.

We are inviting year 13 and 14 students from schools to join our undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers and planning academics.

This event will be of particular interest to A level Geography students, and all students who are interested in how our towns and cities work.

Lunch will be provided to all participants. Please indicate in advance if there are any special dietary or access requirements.

If your school/college is interested in taking part in the day please register using the form below. For more information, please contact: uplan@ulster.ac.uk
