Madam Zhang Meifang, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Belfast, presents as part of the Civic Lecture Series a guest lecture.

She will discuss the latest economic situation in China, including China's global development initiative known as the Belt and Road Initiative. This global undertaking seeks to develop infrastructure projects and investments in countries throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, America and Europe, including Northern Ireland. It has often been described as a 21st century silk road. The "Belt" refers to the overland routes to be developed for road and rail transportation. The “Road" signifies the proposed maritime shipping corridors.

Madam Zhang will also comment on the opportunities which the “Belt and Road Initiative” offers for China-Northern Ireland pragmatic collaboration and how business and educational communities in Northern Ireland share the huge potentials provided by this initiative.

Furthermore, Madam Zhang will share with you her insights on how the educational community contributes and benefits from the initiative.

This event is open to everyone.
