The 2016 Ulster University Chaplaincy Lecture will be delivered by The Right Rev Dr Frank Sellar, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

We hope that this chaplaincy lecture will bring voices from various community, church, civic and business sectors to dream of a future for Belfast together as a city of hope, leadership and compassion.

Dr Sellar was elected Moderator in June 2016 and has ministered in Bangor followed by 17 years in Dublin. In 2007 he was called to Bloomfield Presbyterian Church in east Belfast. In his lecture he will draw on his experiences throughout his ministry – especially in Dublin – and hopes to counter to the negativity, traditionalism and isolationism that challenge Belfast’s (and our human) wellbeing, by putting forward the idea that cities flourish when people find contentment in generosity of spirit.

It is also an opportunity to be encouraged and to find fresh stimulus through fresh thinking that we hope will lead to fresh engagement for the wellbeing of the city. There will be an opportunity for discussion followed by a light tea.

This event is co-hosted by Ulster University, North Belfast Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and Ulster University Chaplains at Belfast and Jordanstown.
