Trad on Tour

Students will bring a traditional music session to a different campus each Wednesday lunchtime. The aim is to showcase the quality of traditional music performance here at Ulster and to offer an opportunity for staff and students based at every campus to participate in this activity.

Students will bring a traditional music session to a different campus each Wednesday lunchtime. The aim is to showcase the quality of traditional music performance here at Ulster and to offer an opportunity for staff and students based at every campus to participate in this activity.

Learning Outcomes

Students will have an opportunity to:

  • Develop their skills in relation to collaborative performance
  • Organise, co-ordinate and manage small ensembles
  • Get an insight into professional touring demands through practical experience
  • Manage finances, schedules
  • Develop reflective skills around traditional music practice.

Assessment Details

Students will be involved in the planning and delivery of a minimum of 5 Trad on Tour Sessions.
Students will deliver a 10 minute presentation outlining their contribution to the Traditional Music Learning Community (TMLC) at Ulster.

Level of Commitment

5 Trad on Tour sessions (minimum):

1.5 hours (per session) for set-up and performance7.5 hours
1.5 hours (per session) for planning and rehearsal7.5 hours
30 mins (per session) reflection2.5 hours
2.5 hours for preparation and delivery of presentationAssessment
